With the missing woman finally located, Bodmin Police and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service quickly came to the rescue to pull her out of the ravine.
Once the woman was recovered, Cornwall Air Ambulance transported her to the hospital. She is in stable condition and is reported to be in “good spirits” as she continues to receive treatment.
“It’s a huge ‘well done’ to all the emergency services who worked together and to Piran,” the anonymous neighbor told the BBC. “The outcome could have been much worse.”
Although emergency services did perform the rescue, Piran deserves a lot of credit in saving his owner’s life. Given the woman’s age and the fact that she was out of sight of the rescuers, it’s easy to imagine how things might have turned out differently had the cat not been so lively.
The cat was welcomed as a hero: “Piran the cat saved the day!”. wrote the Bodin police on Facebook.
Great job, Piran! You certainly saved the day by looking out for your owner. What a smart cat!
